Mission & Purpose

Mission (put succinctly):

Our goal with NOS is to spotlight the best music being made by people over the age of thirty – i.e. people who are essentially “old” by the standards of popular music. The bands or individuals that we wish to focus on are those who’ve never had any sort of popular or critical success.

Purpose:

We’d like to be positive. Ideally, we’ll receive just the right amount of music – so that we can effectively and fairly listen to all of it. We’d like to feature people who have been making music their entire lives or just discovered it recently – but who, for all intents and purposes – haven’t “made it” in any terms.

You see – I believe that “success” is the result of an unpredictable miasma of talent, luck, hard work, right place, right time, who you know, how you look, how sharp your teeth are, and other immeasurable criteria. Also, I apparently believe in quotations marks.
